AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis standout Elena Bompieri has been named the Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 7, 2019.

Bompieri, a sophomore from Peschiera del Garda, Italy, led the Pacers to a dramatic 4-3 come-from-behind victory over No. 39 Georgia College.

It marked the first-ever victory for USC Aiken over the Bobcats in the all-time series.

Bompieri helped USC Aiken pick up the doubles point. She teamed with Teresa Franco Dias for a 6-3 win at the No. 1 doubles spot. 

Bompieri, who is ranked No. 67 in singles action in Division II, knocked off her opponent, who was ranked No. 59, at the top singles position. Bompieri won by scores of 6-4, 7-6.
