Steve Dahm's team battled back-and-forth with the No. 39 team in Division II.
AIKEN, S.C. - The No. 41 University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team tallied a 4-3 victory over No. 39 Georgia College Thursday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 13-2 on the year and 5-2 in league play. The Bobcats fall to 12-5 overall and 5-2 in the PBC.
It marked the first-ever victory for USC Aiken over Georgia College (
all-time results).
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team picked up the doubles point by claiming two of the three matches. After
Karina Blas and
Edith Croda lost a hard-fought 6-2 match at No. 3,
Victoria Giannaccini and
Alice Neves evened the doubles match with a 6-2 victory at No. 2.
Elena Bompieri and
Teresa Franco Dias garnered a 6-3 victory at the top spot for the 1-0 lead.
USC Aiken trailed 2-1 before Bompieri knotted the match at 2-2 with her 6-4, 7-6 victory at No. 1. The Bobcats took the No. 4 singles match for a 3-2 edge, but the Pacers registered the come-from-behind victory by claiming the No. 5 and No. 6 singles contests.
Blas needed three sets, but took the win by a score of 2-6, 7-6, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot.
Rebekka Heigermoser netted a 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 victory at the No. 6 slot for the 4-3 win.
