AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball standout Rebecca Martinez has been named the Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 9, 2018.
Martinez, a junior from Wellington, Fla., guided the Pacers to a 3-1 week.
The 5-5 libero was outstanding at the USC Aiken Invitational.
She averaged 10.57 digs per set, had 20 assists, four aces and a kill during the four matches.
In the win over Carson-Newman, Martinez set the school record for digs in a three-set match with 39. The mark is also tops in Division II this season for a three-set match. In the loss to West Alabama, Martinez registered 42 assists, which is third most in school history.
In the sweeps over Queens and Barton, Martinez accounted for 33 and 34 digs, respectively. Each is in the top 10 in school history for digs in a three-set match.
For the week, Martinez tallied 148 digs in 14 sets.
