AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken softball standout Katie Painter has been named the Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 24, 2019.
Painter, a native of Charleston, S.C., led the Pacers to a split with Catawba.
In the 4-3 nine-inning win, she accounted for a single, a stolen base and a run scored. In the field, Painter had three chances, registering two putouts and an assist.
She had a career-best game in the nightcap against the Indians. In the bottom of the first, Painter registered her first career homerun – a grand slam. Then, in the sixth stanza, Painter blasted a two-run homer for a career-high six RBI. For good measure she had a stolen base in the game. In the field, Painter had five chances, totaling four assists and a putout.
For the week, she batted .600, had six RBI, two homers, two stolen bases and scored three runs.
