AIKEN, S.C. – The Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance Student-Athlete of the Week is USC Aiken baseball standout Joel Haney for the week ending May 7, 2023.

Haney, a native of Rock Hill, S.C., had an outstanding start in the PBC Tournament.

He got the starting nod in the second game of the PBC Tournament. Against second-seeded Young Harris, Haney recorded a complete-game victory.

In nine innings of work, he struck out six batters while walking just three. Haney allowed just six hits and did not allow an earned run in the 3-2 victory.

Haney threw a career-high 142 pitches in the win. His gem sent USC Aiken to the PBC Semifinals.

The Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week honors one student-athlete each week from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.
