AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball standout Jalen McCoy has been named the Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 19, 2023.

McCoy, a native of Raleigh, N.C., had a superb Sweet 16 game against Lincoln Memorial.

Playing in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship for the first time in his career – and the first time for the program since 2013-14,

McCoy poured in a career-high 34 points in the contest. During the last three minutes of play, he erupted for 19 of the team's 22 points in helping the Pacers nearly make a sensational comeback against nationally-ranked Lincoln Memorial.

His 34 points are the most by a USC Aiken student-athlete in a postseason game in the team's Division II history.

The Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week honors one student-athlete each week from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.
