AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken baseball standout Joel Haney has been named the Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 13, 2022.

Haney, a sophomore from Rock Hill, S.C., registered an outstanding performance.

In the complete-game shutout victory over Columbus State, Haney gave up a mere infield single. He struck out a career-high 12 batters and walked just two in the win.

Haney recorded the victory in just 126 pitches. It marked the second consecutive shutout victory from Haney, who struck out seven a week earlier in the 7-0 victory at Georgia Southwestern. Against the Hurricanes, he gave up just one walk and five hits.

The Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week honors one student-athlete each week from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.
