AIKEN, S.C. – USCA baseball standout
Salvatore Laimo has been named the USCA Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
Laimo, a native of Philadelphia, Pa., garnered second-team all-region honors with the ABCA, NCBWA and D2CCA. He earned first-team all-conference accolades and led the team with a .386 batting average while starting all 53 games.
Laimo accounted for 80 hits. He drove in 61 runs, scored 60 times and accounted for 100 total bases. The standout notched 10 doubles, two triples and a pair of home runs. Laimo registered a .483 slugging percentage and led the team with 35 walks. He also sported a .492 on-base percentage and stole 32 bases.
Laimo broke the PBC record for steals in league contests with 26.
He notched 18 multi-hit games and totaled 16 multi-run games. Laimo drove in a season-high four runs in the win over Claflin and swiped a season-best four bases in the victory over Georgia Southwestern.
