Men's Basketball | June 12, 2024

AIKEN, S.C. - The University of South Carolina Aiken had many thrilling moments throughout the action-packed 2023-2024 season. Whether it was on the diamond, on the court, on the course, on the links or on the pitch, PacerSports.com is going to relive some of those unforgettable highlights that defines the Pacers' spirit a sport at a time.

Head coach Mark Vanderslice's team was at or near the top of the conference standings for much of the regular season.

After dropping three-of-five during a tough stretch in late January to early February, the Pacers made a strong run to close out the regular season in order to clinch the PBC regular-season championship.

On Feb. 14, the team bested Georgia Southwestern by eight before winning by 24 at Columbus State. A jumper at the buzzer gave USC Aiken a two-point win over USC Beaufort before a 15-point win against Clayton State, setting up a showdown against Lander in the regular-season finale.

On March 2, the Pacers hosted by Bearcats in a 7:30 p.m., contest. In front of a frenzied crowd, Vanderslice's team jumped out to a 41-30 lead at the break and secured the seven-point victory, 75-68, for the title.

Although Lander shot 51.9 percent from the floor, USC Aiken canned 10-of-22 from downtown and made 13-of-14 free throw attempts. The Bearcats hit just four-of-17 from deep and 10-of-14 from the charity stripe.

USC Aiken's Jameel Rideout (26 points), Jalen McCoy (13 points) and Tyler Johnson (11 points) all reached double figures while Tehree Horn (nine points), Rhyjon Blackwell and Simeon German (six points apiece) and Demitrios Dixon (four points) closed out the scoring for the victors. Being Senior Day, Melvin Archie, Dixon and Jammy Pierre-Louis were among the starters.

The victory marked the program's second consecutive regular-season championship.
