Men's Basketball | June 24, 2026
AIKEN, S.C. – USCA had many thrilling moments throughout the action-packed 2025-26 season. On the diamond, on the court, on the course, on the pitch and on the links, PacerSports.com will highlight an unforgettable moment from each team.
On January 14, head coach
Mark Vanderslice's team made the short trek across the river to face Augusta University. In arguably the biggest rivalry in men's basketball since the inception of the Peach Belt Conference, USCA was looking to even its record at 8-8 in front of a tremendous crowd.
The Pacers netted the first six points of the game and held the Jaguars' offense to zero points for the first 6:20 of the contest. USCA strung together another run and led 16-6 off a dunk by
Chedlet Delva with 9:24 to play in the half. The Pacers led 30-19 on a three-ball by
McCaskill Rivers, but AU trimmed the deficit to four, 30-26, at the break.
Up 46-42 after a small run by the home team, USCA responded in outstanding fashion, building a 57-44 lead on an old-fashioned three-point play by
Jonah Lawrence with 6:29 to play. Lawrence's two charity tosses extend the margin to 14, 63-49, at the 4:13 mark.
The final 10 points by the Pacers occurred in the final 1:23 – and all 10 were at the charity stripe. A pair of free throws by Rivers sealed the contest with seven seconds remaining en route to the 75-71 road victory.
That win marked the program's seventh in eight attempts against Augusta. It also marked the fifth straight road win for USCA in the series.
