The University of South Carolina Aiken had many thrilling moments throughout the action-packed 2022-2023 season. Whether it was on the diamond, the court, the course, the tee box or the pitch, PacerSports.com is going to relive some of those unforgettable highlights that defines the Pacers' spirit a sport at a time.
Head coach
Tina Murphy's team began the season with a
2-0 shutout against Erskine. The shutout marked one of eight on the season which
tied the program record.
In the second match of the season, the Pacers posted their second straight shutout with a
tie at Coker. Nearly three weeks later, USC Aiken hosted their first home event and earned its third shutout of the season with a
tie against Clayton State.
The next three shutouts all came with notches in the win column. Murphy's team defeated conference foes Albany State, USC Beaufort, and Georgia Southwestern by a combined score 8-0 (and all three were PBC matches).
The Pacers wrapped the regular season with another shutout, this time against
Allen University with a final score of 10-0.
Even with eight shutouts already on the season, none was bigger than the scoreless
draw against North Georgia on Oct. 12. Always a powerhouse of a program, the Nighthawks were 7-2-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the conference prior to the game. USC Aiken was able to stop all 14 shots on goal to secure the first tie against UNG for the program since September 29, 2007.
The Pacers concluded the conference schedule with a
2-1 win over Georgia College and State after a 40-yard strike from
Megan Gettys with 28 ticks remaining in the match. The 4-3-3 conference record was the first time in program history USC Aiken has finished above .500 against league foes.
Due to postseason excellence,
Jordan Huynh-Luetkemeyer was named to the All-Tournament team. She also earned academic all-district honors and was named to the PBC Team of Academic Distinction.
