AIKEN, S.C. - The University of South Carolina Aiken had many thrilling moments throughout the action-packed 2023-2024 season. Whether it was on the diamond, on the court, on the course, on the links or on the pitch, PacerSports.com is going to relive some of those unforgettable highlights that defines the Pacers' spirit a sport at a time.
Head coach
Jaclin Poole's team has been known to go toe-to-toe with every team in the region throughout her time at the helm of the program. During her time leading the program, USC Aiken went from hitting a school-record 41 home runs in 2022 to 42 in 2023 before erupting for 51 during the 2024 campaign.
Poole's squad boasted home runs from 11 student-athletes with eight producing at least two round-trippers. Newcomers
Austyn Dixon and
Kate Newberry belted 13 and 11, respectively, while standout
Mallory Shaver crushed 10 on the season.
Jena Dewalt tallied six round-trippers while
Lydia Johnson,
Ella Stone,
Chloe Phillips and
Madison Rogers had two apiece.
Taylor Butts,
Anna Turner and
Cameron Greene got into the act with one homer each.
The long ball proved to be something that Poole's squad did regularly and when it was needed. From tying games in the late innings with home runs to producing walk-off round-trippers, Poole's team did it all, including in victories over No. 11 Wingate and in game one of the sweep against Lander.
The team finished with a 29-22 record and garnered six all-conference performers during the season including
Payton Baker, Dewalt, Dixon,
Skylar Morley,
Lakyn Phillips and Shaver. The Pacers finished 18-6 in front of the home fans at J.H. Satcher Field.
