AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken baseball standout Joel Haney has been named the Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 8, 2022.

Haney, a sophomore from Rock Hill, S.C., went 1-0 on the week in his lone appearance.

He got the starting nod in the best-of-three opener at No. 2 Georgia College in the PBC Tournament. Haney was outstanding, tossing six strong innings while giving up just one run against the Bobcats. 

He had a strikeout and gave up just five hits in the 4-1 victory. 

The Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week honors one student-athlete each week from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.
