Sept. 14, 2014 marked the first sporting event of the academic year for all USC Aiken athletic teams. That date marked a home contest for the women's soccer team. The Pacers, coming off an 8-8-2 campaign, hosted No. 10 Wingate. The Bulldogs were fresh off an appearance in the Elite Eight in 2013 and finished with a 16-3-4 ledger the previous season.
The nationally-ranked Bulldogs took an early 1-0 lead in the 16
th minute of action before Megan Smits knotted the score at 1-1 at the 23:00 minute mark.
Wingate pushed ahead 2-1 before halftime and extended the margin to 3-1 at the 51:59 mark.
The Pacers managed to contain the high-scoring offense of the Bulldogs the rest of the way. USC Aiken registered seven second-half shots, but the squad found it difficult to put a shot on frame. That was, until a perfectly timed play from Jenna Beauregard to Hannah Allison.
In the 83
rd minute, Beauregard took the corner kick and Allison found the back of the net to make it 2-1.
USC Aiken continued pushing forward and Allison knotted the score at the 88:14 mark off an assist from Caroline Gillespie.
Neither team took a shot in overtime. In the second overtime, each squad registered multiple shots, but the score remained tied at 3-3.
After the Pacers tied the Bulldogs, the squad knocked off Emmanuel two days later. Allison picked up NSCAA National Player of the Week honors because of her outstanding effort.
