AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken baseball standout Kevin Cox has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery Student-Athlete of the Month for May.

A native of Vidalia, Ga., Cox turned in an impressive performance against top-seeded Lander in the PBC Tournament.

He got the starting nod in the PBC opener against the Bearcats and registered one of his best outings of the season.

Cox went 7.1 innings and struck out seven batters while walking just two. He gave up two runs on five hits.

Cox's effort helped the Pacers stand at a 2-2 tie to that point in time.

The seven strikeouts were the fourth-most strikeouts he tossed in a single game this season.

The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2023-24 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
