Spirit Squad | June 22, 2022
Throughout June, Pacer Athletics will feature a Top Moment for each sport from the 2021-22 academic year. The ninth Top Moment comes from the Spirit Squad program.
This moment was two years in the making. Prior to the 2020-21 season, USC Aiken announced the formation of the Spirit Squad. The team combined aspects of the cheer and dance teams into an NFL/NBA style cheerleader.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the team was unable to perform on the court during the 2020-21 year. Instead, the team was forced to stay in the stands and cheer.
That changed prior to the 2021-22 season. With an outstanding group of student-athletes, the squad supported the volleyball program at a handful of matches.Â
Despite being at those contests, the team was unable to showcase its ability on the court. The newly formed team was a hit during the time they hit the court for the men's basketball game against Allen on Nov. 20.
The team shined with their stellar routines throughout the first year of being on the court.
