Box Score AIKEN, S.C.--Chad Jacobsen and Matt Montgomery drove in three RBI each as ninth-ranked USC Aiken (22-6) rallied from a 3-0 first inning deficit to score 12 unanswered en route to a 12-3 win over Barton College (17-19) in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday night at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. The Pacers win their fifth-straight game and their eighth in the last nine outings. 

Dustin Tyra got off to a shaky start, but settled in for his best career outing as a Pacer. Jimmy Metzinger's one out double to left center drove in Zach Boyette in part of a three-run first frame for the Bulldogs. Tyra (1-0) held Barton to three hits over the next 5.0 innings for his first career win. His final line read 6.0 innings pitched, five hits, three earned runs, four walks, and two strikeouts. 

Metzinger finished 1-for-2 with two walks, one RBI, and one run scored while Travis Holloman and Brett Andrews each added 2-for-4 evenings. 

USC Aiken got two runs back in the home half of the first keyed by a Jacobsen RBI single through the left side and a sacrifice fly by Montgomery. Jacobsen finished 2-for-4 with a walk, one run scored, and a homer in the eighth inning. Montgomery registered just one hit on the night, but drew a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and recorded two sac flies in just his second start of the year at third base. 

Tied 3-3 in the fifth, five of the first six Pacer hitters drew free passes with Montgomery's hit-by-pitch and Josh Eachues' walk forcing in the go ahead runs. USC Aiken tacked on four more in the sixth highlighted by a RBI single from Darryl Pui. Pui went 2-for-4 with three runs scored while Ben Tankersley turned in an identical line, 2-for-4 and scoring three times. Matt Spivey chipped in a 3-for-4 day with on RBI and one run scored. 

Following the Jacobsen (5) homer in the eighth, a solo shot to center field, USCA added a pair of unearned runs to set the final margin at 12-3. 

Houston Taylor and Ryan Mitchell combined for 3.0 innings of relief, holding the Bulldogs to no runs on three hits, striking out three and not issuing a walk. 

Mike Parker (0-1) surrendered five earned runs on six hits and six walks, fanning one in 4.1 innings in the loss.

USC Aiken and Barton will conclude their two-game, mid-week series tomorrow at 6:00 PM at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.
