AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken men’s tennis standout Salvador Bandeira has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Student-Athlete of the Month for March.

Bandeira, a redshirt-freshman from Caparica, Portugal, has helped the Pacers to a top-15 national ranking.

He was a key cog in the line-up that went 6-2 in March as a team.

Bandeira went 6-2 in singles action and teamed up with Antonio Sabugueiro to go 7-1 in doubles action. He and Sabugueiro are No. 15 in the latest national doubles poll.

The squad went 3-2 in league play during the month, picking up wins over rival Augusta and No. 8 Lander, marking the first win for the team over the Bearcats since 2009.

The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2018-19 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
