AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball standout Anyeuri Castillo has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month for December.
Castillo, a senior forward from Norcross, Ga., guided the Pacers to a 1-1 week.
After opening his Pacer career with 11 points, six rebounds and three blocks in a loss to Lander, he tallied a team-best 23 points in the victory over the Bearcats. Castillo snagged a team-high eight rebounds, blocked three shots and had two steals in the victory.
In the win, Castillo poured in 21 first-half points, giving USC Aiken a 39-27 lead at the break.
For the week, he is averaging 17 points, seven rebounds and three blocks a game. Castillo has buried five three-point shots, has hit 39.3 percent of his attempts from the floor and is netting 87.5 percent of his charity tosses.
The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2020-21 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
