AIKEN, S.C. – USCA softball standout Lakyn Phillips has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery Student-Athlete of the Month for April.
Phillips, a senior from Lexington, S.C., was tremendous in the circle and at the plate for the Pacers while guiding the team to a 10-5 ledger in the month.
In the circle, Phillips went 6-0 with a save during April. While appearing in nine games, she tossed at least six strikeouts seven times, including a month-best nine in the complete-game victory at Catawba. During April, she gave up 17 runs, with 14 being earned in 46.2 innings of work.
Phillips picked up the win over No. 20 Flagler, Augusta, Benedict, Catawba and two victories over USC Beaufort while also notching a six-pitch save against the Sand Sharks.
With the save, Phillips became the school’s career leader in saves.
At the plate, she hit .300, walked four times and scored three runs.
The South Carolina Education Lottery USCA Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2024-25 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
