AIKEN, S.C. – The Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USCA Student-Athlete of the Week is softball standout
Abbie Kegley.
A native of Quinton, Va., Kegley had an outstanding week.
She went 2-0 in three appearances. Kegley tossed 16 innings and gave up three earned runs. Kegley posted nine strikeouts and gave up 11 hits while tossing 323 pitches.
She got the start and worked five innings in the run-rule victory at Middle Georgia. Kegley had three strikeouts in the victory. Against the Knights in the second game of the series, Kegley entered in relief and worked four frames. She had a strikeout and picked up her second victory over the week. Kegley gave up four hits and did not allow a run. In the series finale, she tossed seven innings of shutout ball in relief. During the seven frames, Kegley had five strikeouts and gave up just four hits.
