AIKEN, S.C. – USCA women's basketball standout
Monique Emelifeonwu has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery Student-Athlete of the Month for January.
A native of Canberra, Australia, Emelifeonwu had a tremendous month.
The 6-0 forward accounted for 9.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per outing in eight games. She erupted for 17 points Georgia College and against USC Beaufort. Emelifeonwu hit for 13 markers against Clayton State.
She pulled down 11 boards for a double-double against the Bobcats. Emelifeonwu tied her monthly best with 11 rebounds against Georgia Southwestern.
The PBC leader in blocks swatted six against GCSU while adding five against the Lakers and Hurricanes.
The South Carolina Education Lottery USCA Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2025-26 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
