From navigating uncertainty to rewriting the record book,
Monique Emelifeonwu's journey at USCA is rooted in trust and selflessness.
A junior on the women's basketball team, Emelifeonwu arrived this year as a transfer searching for the right fit. She ultimately chose USCA because of her belief in
Brittany Batts and the vision she was building for the program. Since stepping on campus, Emelifeonwu has found her rhythm; embracing her teammates, their support and the culture that quickly felt like home.
Recently, she broke the program's Division II single-season blocks record, surpassing the previous mark of 83, and hasn't stopped climbing. Heading into the regular-season finale at Clayton State, she has 112, which is third all-time in the PBC for a single season.
True to her character, Emelifeonwu didn't even realize she had set the new benchmark in the moment. Instead, her focus remained on staying present with her team and responding the right way after a loss.
Humble and team-first, Emelifeonwu never seeks the spotlight. Her impact goes far beyond the stat sheet, defined by her willingness to support those around her and continue improving every day.
