AIKEN, S.C. – USCA men's basketball standout Caleb Byrd has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery Student-Athlete of the Month for December.

A native of Mauldin, S.C., Byrd recorded another outstanding month.

He started all six contests in December and netted double digits in each. Byrd posted 15 points in the win over USC Beaufort before tying his high for December with 23 points in the victory at Middle Georgia. After notching 21 points at Flagler, Byrd scored 20 points against North Georgia and in the win over Francis Marion. He closed out the month by tying his high for the month with 23 at Emmanuel.

Byrd notched a double-double with his 10-rebound effort in the win over the Sand Sharks. After accounting for seven boards at Middle Georgia, he had four against the Saints.

For the month, he hit 38-of-89 from the floor, including 25-of-52 from downtown. Byrd was nearly automatic from the charity stripe, connecting on 21-of-23.

The South Carolina Education Lottery USCA Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2025-26 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
