Dr. Jim Kauffman worked with USC Aiken from 1976-2005. For two years, he volunteered to coach the baseball team when USC Aiken thought about dropping the program. In 1980 as the Associate Chancellor and Dean of Students, Kauffman coordinated a welcome-home celebration for the NAIA National District 6 Basketball Champions. From 1980-84, he served as the Acting Athletic Director and Athletic Director and was a huge supporter of the women’s teas transition to NAIA District 6.
Kauffman made several key hires for USC Aiken, including Dru McPherson (women’s basketball) and Glen DeHart (men’s basketball). He also spearheaded the move to add lights to JH Satcher Field. Kauffman served as the Faculty Athletic Representative for five years and is still a Pacer Club member.
