AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken baseball standout Nick Yobbi has been named the Willie Jewell’s USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 14, 2017.

Yobbi, a senior from South Park, Pa., was dominant in the opening game of the PBC Tournament against Lander.

In the win over the Bearcats, Yobbi came in to relieve Connor Riley with two outs in the top of the sixth inning. He forced the first batter he faced into an inning-ending fielder’s choice.

Yobbi preceded to retire the side in the next three frames in order. In the seventh, he threw only nine pitches to record three outs. Yobbi threw 13 pitches in the eighth inning, striking out two while also forcing a fly ball out.

He continued his strong performance in the ninth by throwing just 10 pitches en route to earning the save.

In all, Yobbi retired all 10 batters he faced while throwing a mere 39 pitches.
