University of South Carolina Aiken men’s soccer standout Nathan Shanko has been named the USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2016-17 athletic year ending Oct. 30, 2016.

Shanko, a native of Orlando, Fla., guided the Pacers to a 2-0 week and helped the squad earn a berth in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.

The senior dished out an assist on what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the mid-week victory over UNC Pembroke. Shanko also added an insurance goal early in the second half against the Braves.

In the regular-season finale against Montevallo, he saved his best for last. Off a set piece, Shanko headed home the game-winner, sending USC Aiken to the league tournament as the No. 7 seed.

For the week, Shanko had two goals – on three shots – and an assist.

The USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week honors one student-athlete each week from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.
