AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken baseball standout Connor Riley has been named the Willie Jewell’s USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 30, 2017.

Riley, a senior from Aurora, Ill., had one of his most dominant performances in the win over Chowan Saturday afternoon.

Riley got things going by registering a pair of strikeouts in the top of the first inning. He struck out the Hawks in order in the second and third innings, respectively. Riley tallied a strikeout in the fourth two more in the fifth.

For the game, Riley struck out 11 batters and gave up just one run on two hits. It marked the sixth game of the season that he has struck out at least 11 batters.
