AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken men’s basketball standout Mark Matthews has been named the USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 13, 2016.

Matthews, a sophomore guard from Fort Myers, Fla., guided the Pacers to a win it their season-opening game against St. Andrews.

Matthews poured in a game-high 22 points on a sizzling nine-of-14 shooting from the floor (64.3 percent). He netted two-of-four from downtown and canned both of his charity tosses.

In addition to his game-high 22 points, Matthews snagged a school-record 23 rebounds. Six of the boards were on the offensive glass while 17 were of the defensive variety.

The 23 rebounds are the third most in Peach Belt Conference history.

The USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week honors one student-athlete each week from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.
