University of South Carolina Aiken golf standout Axel
Östensson has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Student-Athlete of the Month for March.
Östensson is a 6-1 senior from
Motala, Sweden. During the month of March, he guided the Pacers to one team title, a third-place finish and a pair of fourth-place efforts.
At the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate,
Östensson finished fifth after shooting one-under par. His effort helped the Pacers finish third.
While guiding USC Aiken to the team title at the Bobcat Invitational,
Östensson finished third after shooting three-under par. His effort helped the squad best the top four teams in Division II and seven of the top 10.
He took 11
th at the Furman Intercollegiate, shooting one-under par.
Östensson helped the Pacers finish fourth.
He tied for 12
th after shooting three-under par at the Augusta 3M Invitational, guiding the team to a fourth-place effort.
Currently, Golfstat.com ranks Östensson as the No. 3 golfer in Division II and the No. 1 golfer in the region.
The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2017-18 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
