University of South Carolina Aiken men’s basketball standout Doniel Dean has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Student-Athlete of the Month for January.

Dean is a junior from Newnan, Ga. He led the Pacers to a 5-5 record in the month.

In 10 games, Dean averaged a team-high 19.3 points per game. He connected on 52.6 percent of his shots from the floor, including 37.9 percent from downtown.

Dean dished out a team-high 48 assists and added a team-best 13 steals. He also averaged 3.5 rebounds a game from his guard position.

Dean scored in double figures in every game, including tying his season high with 35 at Young Harris. He scored at least 20 points on four occasions.

In the win at Clayton State, Dean hit seven-of-eight from the floor. His 13 field goals against the Mountain Lions tied his season high.

The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2017-18 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
