AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken softball standout Lakyn Phillips has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Student-Athlete of the Month for April.

Phillips, a freshman from Lexington, S.C., went 7-3 on the month in 10 appearances.

She sported a 2.05 ERA and registered eight complete games. Phillips posted three shutouts and worked 61.1 innings. She struck out 67 batters on the month.

Phillips struck out double-digit batters on two occasions, including 14 in the no-hitter against Claflin.

She posted a pair of victories over No. 12 North Georgia, including a shutout. 

During the month, Phillips picked up PBC Pitcher of the Week accolades.  

The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2021-22 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
