AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball standout
Preston Parks has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Student-Athlete of the Month for December.
Parks, a 6-3 guard from Greenville, S.C., guided the Pacers to a 4-1 month.
He connected for a team-best 16.2 points per game while playing 30 minutes a night. He shot 54.7 percent from the floor (29-of-53), including 11-of-25 from downtown (44.0 percent). Parks also drained all 12 free throw attempts.
He led the Pacers with 11 steals and was second on the team with nine assists. For good measure, Parks averaged 3.8 rebounds per game.
He poured in a season-high 22 points and made a season-best nine field goals in the win over St. Augustine's on Dec. 12. Parks snagged a season-high seven rebounds and had a season-best four steals in the win over Georgia Southwestern on Dec. 16.
The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2021-22 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
