University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball standout Taylor Stratton has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month for her efforts in the month of September.
Stratton, a 5-10 senior outside hitter from Chesapeake, Va., has helped guide the Pacers to an 11-3 start on the year, including a 4-2 mark against conference foes.
Stratton leads the team with 186 kills. Her 3.72 kills per set are also tops on the squad. Stratton is hitting .237 on the season, averages 1.84 digs per set and is third on the team it total blocks (19).
She has been a consistent performer throughout the regular season and helped shut down Eckerd as she posted back-to-back points to win the match on Sept. 9. On Sept. 29, Stratton became the ninth student-athlete to register 1,000 career kills with her second-set point in the victory at Lander.
The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2016-17 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
