SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Newcomer
Daniel Kiprono earned a third-place finish at the Converse Kick-Off Friday evening.
The USCA men's cross country team took 14
th behind Kiprono's outstanding effort. The Pacers totaled 347 total points at the meet. UNC Pembroke won the event while Southern Wesleyan and Georgia College & State University rounded out the top three teams.
Head coach
Jim Sprecher's team was led by Kiprono's time of 19:32.6. It marked the highest finish by a PBC performer at the meet.
Evan McLeod registered a time of 22:51.7, which was good enough for 79
th place.
Jase Wilson was not far behind him, snagging 84
th place after crossing in 23:09.5.
Andrew Towner picked up an 87
th-place finish with a time of 23:38.7. Fellow newcomers
Avery Farthing and
David Tarantino were 94
th and 95
th, respectively. Farthing accounted for a time of 24:44.6 while Tarantino crossed the line in 25:07.5.
Tyler Blowe recorded a time of 26:52.4, which was good enough for 99
th.
The Pacers return to action Friday, Sept. 12, when they compete at the Queens City Invitational.
