Each week, USCA will post notes.
Another Tournament
This week marks the third consecutive time USCA will take part in a tournament. The Pacers opened the season at the Coker Cobras Tournament, going 2-1. Last week, head coach
Glenn Cox's team hosted the USC Aiken Invitational. This marks the last time the program will play in a tournament until postseason competition begins.Â
Last Time For A While
This week marks the last time USCA will be away from the Convocation Center for a bit. After playing three matches at Montevallo this weekend, head coach
Glenn Cox's team returns to Aiken, S.C., for the next four matches, spanning Sept. 28 (against Lander) through Dig Pink Night on Oct. 9 against Georgia College & State University.
The Saint Louis Connection
Newcomer
Sidney Hogan and returner
Anna Sommer knew each other from St. Louis, Mo. Their connection on the court was undeniable in the win over Francis Marion. Sommer slammed home a career-high 17 kills while hitting .615. She had just one error in 26 attempts. Hogan had 23 assists in the match – and many were due to Sommer's 17-kill performance.
Bishop For Checkmate
In the win over Carson-Newman,
Alli Bishop made her presence felt. The sophomore played in the fourth set and promptly hit .300, totaling three kills in 10 attempts. The last of her three kills gave the Pacers a 23-22 edge.
A First For Scanlon
In the win over Eagles, rookie
Tabor Scanlon produced her first career double-double. She accounted for 25 assists to go along with 14 digs in the four-set victory. For good measure, she tied her career high with two kills while hitting .333.
Total Team Effort
Head coach
Glenn Cox's team posted a 3-0 victory over North Greenville. It was a total team effort. Overall, 11 student-athletes recorded at least one kill, seven had at least one assist and eight had at least one dig. Collectively, 12 student-athletes scored at least one point, helping the team move to 5-1 on the season.
