McKay And Mercer Earn PBC Accolades

AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball standouts Sadie McKay and Kari Mercer have been named to the PBC Preseason all-conference team, as announced by the league office Friday.

McKay, a junior from Bellville, Texas, garnered all-tournament team honors a season ago during the league tournament after helping the Pacers to the championship match. McKay accounted for 362 kills and 342 digs in 2022. Sher posted a career-high 25 kills against Flagler in the PBC Championship. Earlier in the season, McKay registered a career-best 22 digs in the victory over Francis Marion. 

Mercer, a fifth-year senior from Hilliard, Ohio, is a two-time PBC Libero of the Year and a three-time all-conference selection. One of the most decorated liberos in USC Aiken's history and in PBC lore, Mercer accounted for a career-best 666 digs in 2022 (5.20 digs/set). She is in the top 10 in the PBC for career digs in the modern era and is third on the USC Aiken career chart (1,863). Additionally, she ranks fifth and seventh on the school's single-season digs list and is fourth, fifth and eighth on the single-season digs per set list at USC Aiken.

The Pacers were voted fourth in the PBC Preseason Poll. The team opens the season Sept. 1 at the Lenoir-Rhyne Tournament against Mount Olive at 11 a.m.
