AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken, in conjunction with head men's cross country coach
Marshall Leonard, is excited to announce the addition of two student-athletes for the upcoming 2023-24 academic year.
Justin Kaimann and
Julio Rojas will continue their athletic and academic careers with USC Aiken beginning this fall.
"Justin comes to USC Aiken after having a stellar senior year," Leonard said. "I loved that he continued to progress throughout his high school career. He made an amazing jump in progress between his junior and senior seasons, and I am confident that he will continue to improve."
Kaimann is a native of Houston, Texas. A four-time all-district selection, Kaimann captured the district championship four times. He qualified for regionals three times and notched a 5k personal-best time of 16:34. Kaimann has times of 4:37 in the mile and 2:02 for the 800m. Solid outside of athletics, Kaimann garnered all-academic team honors four times.
"Julio spent two seasons training at a junior college and he comes to us with experience and the understanding of what it takes to be a successful college runner," Leonard stated. I look forward to seeing him play a leadership role on this team."
Rojas is a native of Clermont, Fla. He spent two years at Lake Sumter State and clocked a 27:44 for the 8k. Rojas also posted a mark of 9:57 in the 3,000m as well as a time of 4:25 for the 1,500m.
The duo will open their USC Aiken careers at the Elon Friday Night Lights meet on Sept. 1.
