AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball standout
Kari Mercer has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® team, which was recently announced.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced January 9.
Mercer, a four-time all-conference honoree, wrapped up her distinguished career as the first USC Aiken volleyball standout to earn All-America accolades on the court (2021) and in the classroom (2022).
The two-time PBC Libero of the Year finished her career with the second-most digs in school history (2,405) and third-most digs in PBC lore during the rally-scoring era.
A graduate student, Mercer helped the team reach back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and was USC Aiken's NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee in the summer of 2023.
