Each week, the University of South Carolina Aiken will produce weekly notes. This week, USC Aiken hits the road for one match. 

Gettys Gets It Done

Rookie Megan Gettys found the back of the net twice in the 2-1 come-from-behind win at Southern Wesleyan. Trailing 1-0 in the second half, Gettys blasted two shots that connected for scores. It marked her second and third goals of the season, which is the most by a Pacer since Gressa Olson tallied five goals during the 2019 season.

Solid Start

USC Aiken is 2-0-1 to start the season after picking up victories over Erskine and Southern Wesleyan while posting a tie against Coker. It marks first time the Pacers have not suffered a loss in the first three matches of a season since 2014. That year, USC Aiken tied No. 10 Wingate 3-3 to open the year before posting wins over Emmanuel (Ga.) and Lenoir-Rhyne. With that solid start, former Pacer Hannah Allison garnered NSCAA National Player of the Week honors.

Adversity Is The New Normal

Adversity is nothing new to the Pacers. Having the team's home opener moved to an away venue less than 24 hours away from the start of the season made the deficit to Southern Wesleyan seem like it was no big deal. Trailing 1-0 in the second half to the Warriors, head coach Tina Murphy's team battled back and notched two goals in less than 20 minutes for the 2-1 win.

Newcomers Making An Impact

Head coach Tina Murphy's newcomers are making their impact felt. Megan Gettys leads the team with three goals while Olivia Pall has one. Jackie Montes has two assists to her credit while Avery List has one assist. Keeper Caitlin Thomason has played in two matches and has not surrendered a goal.

Road Warriors

With the change in venue to its season-opening match, USC Aiken is now in the midst of a five-match road trip to start the season. The Pacers play at Lander and at Flagler – the top two teams in the PBC a season ago – before having their home opener on Sept. 17 against Clayton State.

Inside The Numbers

This week, USC Aiken plays at Lander on Saturday, Sept. 10. Since the start of the program, the Pacers are 44-104-10 in Saturday matches (31.1 percent). The team is 2-4 in Saturday matches during the program's history.

This week, USC Aiken plays at Lander on Saturday, Sept. 10. The Pacers trail the all-time series against the Bearcats 17-5-4.
