It's Been A While
Head coach
Tina Murphy's team opened the 2022 with a 2-0 road win at Erskine. The victory marked the first win of the opening match of a season for USC Aiken since the 2017 season. That year, the Pacers posted a 4-1 win over Mars Hill. It's also the first shutout win to start the season since a 1-0 win at Mars Hill on Sept. 1, 2016.
Newcomers Making Their Marks Felt
In the team's lone match last week, USC Aiken registered contributions from numerous student-athletes – both returners and newcomers – but both goals and the assist came via newcomers. Rookie
Megan Gettys opened her career with the game-winning goal, which also marked her first career score.
Olivia Pall – another freshman – got on the board with a goal in the second period. Fellow newcomer – junior
Jackie Montes – garnered an assist for her first career point as a Pacer.
Less For Moore
Goalkeeper
Kaydence Moore got her first career start between the pipes at Erskine. Moore played well and thwarted both chances by the Flying Fleet. She picked up two saves en route to picking up the shutout.
Dealing With Diversity
With the match being altered to a road contest Saturday morning, the Pacers played great despite dealing with the diversity. However, USC Aiken will now face a challenge that not many will have to face. The team will be on the road for four more matches before getting to have the delayed home opener on Saturday, Sept. 17 against Clayton State.
