INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team is one of 10 teams "under consideration" for the 2022 NCAA Southeast Region Championship in the NCAA's initial Division II Southeast Region rankings, as released Wednesday.
The 10 teams currently under consideration will not be put in any rank order until next week.
The teams include Anderson (18-4), Augusta (21-5), Carson-Newman (22-4), Emmanuel (20-7), Flagler (12-7), Lander (17-8), Mars Hill (15-7), UNC Pembroke (16-13), USC Aiken (15-11) and Wingate (24-1).
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections.
The three regional rankings are scheduled to be released weekly on Wednesdays through November 9, with the NCAA D-II Tournament selections scheduled to be unveiled on Sunday night, Nov. 22, at 10 p.m. on
www.ncaa.com.
The final two rankings (Nov. 2 and Nov. 9) will be in rank order.
The national tournament selection criteria are based on, in no particular order: in-region winning percentage, D2 winning percentage, D2 strength of schedule, D2 head-to-head competition, and results vs. common D2 opposition.
The NCAA regional rankings are the official rankings used by the committee to select the national tournament field. The field will be comprised of 64 teams and the Southeast Region will have eight teams. The three conference tournament champions (PBC, SAC, and Conference Carolinas) receive an automatic berth to the regional.
