AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA volleyball team wrapped up the weekend with a pair of wins over Lee and North Greenville.
The Pacers are now 7-0 on the season.
Against Lee, head coach
Glenn Cox's team was guided by
Alli Bishop's match-high 20 kills while hitting .259.
Chloe Duzenack accounted for 10 kills and 10 digs while
Lexi Rogers amassed nine kills and 13 digs to go along with four blocks.
Olivia Miller added eight kills while hitting .368.
Madison Fox had 22 assists and 13 digs while
Kendall Kozak distributed 10 assists.
Olivia Moffett had eight assists. Defensively,
Kira Bostick added 12 digs while
Avery Pearson was in on eight total blocks.
Tied at 7-7 in the first set, Miller hammered home a pass from Moffett. Bostick served up an ace before Moffett and Pearson notched kills. Up 16-15, a miscue by the Flames and kills from Miller and Bishop gave the squad a 19-15 edge. Moments later, Bishop and Pearson combined for a block before Rogers put the set away with a kill.
Lee won the next two sets, but USCA forced the fifth frame. A 7-0 spurt gave the Pacers a 12-6 lead, but Lee battled back. Trailing 24-22, Bishop found the court in back-to-back plays. Miller and
Rusne Radaviciute combined for a block for a 25-24 lead. Trailing 29-28, Duzenack kept the match alive with a kill. The solid defense forced out-of-system passing by the Flames, resulting in back-to-back attack errors in the 31-29 win.
Cox's group jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the fifth frame and never looked back. Fox had two aces and Pearson and Rogers combined for a block in the spurt. Bishop added two kills for a 10-2 advantage. Leading 13-8, Miller and Duzenack posted kills for the come-from-behind win.
Against North Greenville, Bishop posted 15 kills. Duzenack and Rogers notched five kills apiece while Miller, Pearson and Radaviciute had three kills each.
Fox dished out 14 assists while Kozak accounted for 13.
Defensively, Bostick paced the team with 21 digs. Rogers tallied nine digs while Pearson was outstanding at the net, stuffing six attempts.
Tied at 18 in the first set, an error gave USCA a side-out. Two more miscues by NGU pushed the margin to 21-18. Leading 21-19, Duzenack hammered home a kill. Three more mistakes by the Trailblazers secured the 25-19 win.
Down 11-6 in the second stanza, Bishop found the court on back-to-back plays before Pearson garnered a kill. Down 17-11, the Pacers rattled off four straight points. Radaviciute notched two kills and Kozak had an ace. Trailing 20-18, Rogers secured a kill and Bishop notched two points, giving the squad a 21-20 edge. The Pacers accounted for four of the final five points for the 25-23 come-from-behind win. Bishop closed the door in the set off a pass from Fox.
Cox's team trailed 20-16 in the third frame, but Duzenack added a kill. Duzenack was in on a kill and a block, making it 21-20. Down 22-20, Rogers started an emphatic run for the home team. Pearson's kill gave the team a 23-22 edge. Then, Fox connected with Bishiop for a kill before Pearson and Radaviciute concluded the match with a block.
