AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer standout Megan Gettys has been named the PBC Freshman of the Year.

The award was voted on by the league coaches and announced by the league office Wednesday.

Gettys, a native of Mandeville, La., guided the team to a 7-3-4 overall record and a 4-3-3 mark against PBC foes. She helped the Pacers to the No. 5 seed in the upcoming PBC Tournament, which marks the program's highest finish since 2006.  

Gettys becomes the first USC Aiken women's soccer student-athlete to be named PBC Freshman of the Year.

The rookie led the league with five match-winning goals. Gettys accounted for the match-winners at Erskine, at Southern Wesleyan, at Albany State, against Georgia Southwestern and at Georgia College & State. 

She is fourth in the league in goals (11) and points (24). Gettys is third in the PBC in shots (45) and fourth in shots on goal (30). 

In PBC play, Gettys is tied for the lead in match-winning goals with three. She is sixth in goals (7) and points (16). Gettys ranks fourth in shots (32) and shots on goal (23).
