AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 3-0 contest to Florida Southern Saturday evening in non-conference action.
The Pacers are now 2-4 on the season. The Mocs stand at 3-0-3 on the year.
Head coach
Adam Kleman's squad kept the visitors off the board with a save in the third minute of action.
Savannah Yerger had two more saves 10 minutes later. After another stop by Yerger,
Gabriella Maddalena posted a shot on frame, but it was turned away by the keeper at the 21:01 mark.
FSC got on the board just 53 seconds later for a 1-0 edge. The Mocs tacked on a goal in the 40
th minute for a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Yerger stopped three shots in the first 22 minutes of the second stanza, keeping it at 2-0.
Emma Gause tried to cut the deficit in half at the 70:27 mark, but her attempt was blocked.
Kleman's squad continued pushing forward. At the 80:40 mark,
Gillian Young recorded a corner kick. A few seconds later, she recorded another corner kick.
Katelyn Ensley had a shot blocked in the 82
nd minute. Thirty seconds later,
Layne Frericks attempt was thwarted.
For the match, USCA had five shots in the match.
Reese Agnew, Enskley, Frericks, Gause and Maddalena notched attempts. Agnew and Maddalena placed shots on goal.
Between the pipes, Yerger stopped 11 shots while playing all 90 minutes.
