Men's Cross Country | June 15, 2021
AIKEN, S.C. – Throughout the month of June, the University of South Carolina Aiken Athletic Communications office will showcase the top moment from each program from the 2020-21 academic year.
The USC Aiken men's cross country team (along with the women's cross country team and golf team) were the only programs allowed to compete during the fall of 2020. Under the guidance of head coach
Lauren Etheridge, the team made great strides in the program's second year after a two-decade hiatus.
During the four-race season, the Pacers registered a top-10 finish each time out. Coming off a second-place effort at the USC Aiken Invitational, the team turned its attention to the PBC Championship.
After a unique bus trip to the meet, USC Aiken's team took ninth at the meet. The top moment of the year came at the championship as virtually every runner on the team established a personal-best time.
David Weidner led the team with a time of 30:24.3 while
Kyle Ready garnered his fourth consecutive personal-best mark after crossing in 31:25.4.
Joshua Whitley also took home a personal-best time in 31:29.0.
Throughout the year, each student-athlete posted at least one (and in some cases four) personal-best time.
