AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball standout
Alie Smith picked up AVCA all-region honors.
Smith garnered AVCA and D2CCA accolades this season.
Smith, a native of St. Johns, Fla., is coming off a season in which she became the first-ever PBC volleyball student-athlete to be named to the all-conference team five times.
Smith led the league with 4.76 total points per set and 486 overall points on the season. She also was first in kills/set (4.15), fourth in aces (0.45/set), seventh in digs/set (3.45) and eighth in hitting percentage (.221). Smith finished the season ninth nationally in points per set and 12th nationally in kills per set.
Smith posted a season-high 24 kills in the win over West Alabama, had a season-best 30 points against Carson-Newman and registered a season-high 24 digs against Lenoir-Rhyne. The 2020 PBC Player of the Year is the PBC's all-time leader in kills during the rally-scoring era (1,687) and holds the school record for double-doubles during the rally-scoring era (67). In 2021, she became just the third USC Aiken student-athlete to surpass 1,500 career kills.
