AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball standouts Christine Carroll, Rebecca Martinez and Alie Smith have been named to the PBC Preseason all-conference team, as announced by the league office.

The trio guided the Pacers to a spot in the Sweet 16 in 2018 for the second time in the program's history.

Carroll, a senior middle blocker from Cincinnati, Ohio, earned honorable mention All-America honors in 2018 by the AVCA and D2CCA. She was tabbed the PBC co-Player of the Year after leading the league in points per set with 4.60. Carroll was also in the top 10 in the league in kills (350), kills per set (3.85), hitting percentage (.324), solo blocks (26) and total blocks (80).

Martinez, a senior libero from Wellington, Fla., garnered first-team All-America honors a year ago by D2CCA. She also picked up honorable mention All-America accolades from the AVCA after leading Division II with 7.86 digs per set. Martinez led the PBC with 739 digs. She is a two-time PBC first-team selection and two-time PBC Specialist of the Year.

Smith, a junior outside hitter from St. Johns, Fla., earned all-conference honors for the second consecutive season in 2018. An NCAA Southeast Regional all-tournament team honoree, Smith was among the league leaders in kills (297), kills per set (3.38), service aces per set (0.25), digs per set (3.31), total points (336.) and points per set (3.82).
