AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken is excited to announce the 2019 volleyball schedule.
"We have one of the toughest schedules in our league with multiple nationally-ranked opponents," head coach
Glenn Cox said. "We are excited about taking on such a challenging schedule. The non-conference portion of the slate will challenge us and prepare us for conference play and postseason competition."
The Pacers, coming off their second Sweet 16 appearance in school history, have a tough schedule that is highlighted by four weekend tournaments against several NCAA Tournament participants.
USC Aiken opens the season at the Lincoln Memorial Tournament Sept. 6-7 against three South Atlantic Conference schools. Cox's team opens with a rematch from the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Lincoln Memorial before squaring off against Carson-Newman. The Pacers conclude the tournament on Saturday with an afternoon match against Mars Hill.
The squad hosts the USC Aiken Invitational Sept. 13-14. On Friday, the team entertains North Greenville before taking on Florida Southern Friday evening. Saturday features a pair of matches against Lee and Shorter.
Cox's team will play hosts to the Pacer Invitational the following weekend (Sept. 20-21). On Friday, the team matches up against Erskine and West Florida on Friday before concluding the tournament with contests against Converse and Valdosta State on Saturday.
With no time to rest, USC Aiken begins PBC play Friday, Sept. 28 when it hosts Flagler. The team stays in front of the home crowd for a match-up against non-conference foe Emmanuel on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
USC Aiken returns to league play for matches at UNC Pembroke (Friday, Oct. 1) and at Francis Marion (Saturday, Oct. 2) before the team takes part in the PBC Crossover Oct.11-12. The Pacers head to Jefferson City, Tenn., for matches against Lincoln Memorial and host Carson-Newman on Oct. 11 before making the drive to Mars Hill, N.C., for Saturday contests against Lenoir-Rhyne and the host Lions.
The Pacers stay on the road for a match at Paine on Oct. 15 before returning home for contests against Georgia College (Oct. 18) and Augusta (Oct. 19).
USC Aiken makes the short trek to Lander on Oct. 24 before having over a week off. The squad will play host to Francis Marion on Friday, Nov. 1 and Senior Day with UNC Pembroke the following day. The Pacers conclude the home portion of the regular season with a match against the Bearcats on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Cox's team hits the road for the final three regular-season matches beginning with Flagler on Friday, Nov. 8. The team plays at Augusta on Friday, Nov. 15 and closes the regular season at Georgia College on Nov. 16.
The Pacers host the PBC Tournament Nov. 22-24.
