Top 10 Stories Of The 2017-18 Academic Year: No. 7 USC Aiken Posts Back-To-Back Shutouts

Prior to the start of fall practice, USC Aiken wants to take one last look back at the top-10 moments from the 2017-18 athletic seasons. Over the next three weeks, we will post the list!

One of the best moments encapsulated a pair of performances by the men's soccer team. The squad registered back-to-back shutouts over Erskine and Georgia Southwestern, marking the first time the squad had done that since the 2014 season in wins over Coker and Montevallo by identical 3-0 scores.

USC Aiken Shuts Down Erskine, 3-0

DUE WEST, S.C.

Head coach Ike Ofoje's team jumped on top of the home squad just minutes into the match.

After shots by Andre Simmond and Jorvel Tobierre tallied the first two attempts of the contest, Samuel Andrews found the back of the net off a pass from Andre Simmond at the 8:20 mark for what turned out to be the match-winning goal.

The Pacers added to their advantage two minutes later. Kento Ito blasted a shot toward the frame that was saved, but USC Aiken earned a corner kick. Samuel Andrews found Thomas Kretschmar for his first score as a Pacer, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead.

USC Aiken maintained the 2-0 advantage through the end of the first half and nearly the entire match. However, Ofoje's team continued pushing forward and registered a positive result in the 88th minute.

On a breakaway, Roberto Biendicho booted the ball past the keeper with just 2:43 left in the match for the 3-0 score.
